Collection: VARIOPINTO

The VARIOPINTO collection is a collaboration between Stories of Italy and designers Alberto & Francesco Meda. “In 2010, Borek Sipek invited me, along with designers Andrea Branzi, Ron Arad, Oscar Tusquets, and Nanda Vigo, to design a blown glass object for his glass factory in Bohemia. This resulted in a collection of unique pieces presented at the Spazio Krizia in Milan in April 2011 and later auctioned in New York. The project remained dormant for years until my son Francesco, to whom I had given my designed piece, suggested revisiting it in a more contemporary way using techniques of reuse and recovery from waste glass. Francesco collaborated with Stories of Italy, a Milan-based studio specializing in Murano glass, to revitalize these pieces. With just four hands, the collection has been reborn, preserving the original shapes while presenting them with a new image aligned with current sustainability themes.” — Alberto Meda
